Altnagelvin Hospital has fully restored tap water services for patients following a significant water supply disruption that lasted several days. The issue began last week due to a burst pipe located on Glenshane Road, which impacted the hospital's water provision.
NI Water successfully completed the necessary repairs on Tuesday. However, precautionary measures remained in place until Friday afternoon to ensure the water quality was safe. During this period, patients were unable to use mains water for drinking and were supplied with bottled water.
The Western Trust confirmed that final checks were concluded on Friday, leading to the lifting of all restrictions. A spokesperson for the Trust stated that all areas have since returned to normal practices, emphasizing patient and staff well-being as the highest priority throughout the incident.
