As of Thursday, February 13, 2026, some patients at Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry are still without access to tap water. This situation persists approximately 48 hours after repairs were finished on a burst pipe located on Glenshane Road, which had initially disrupted the hospital's water supply.
NI Water confirmed the pipe repairs were completed on Tuesday, February 11, 2026. The Western Health Trust initially reported on Wednesday, February 12, 2026, that the supply had returned to normal. However, precautionary measures were kept in place to allow for final controls and checks.
Patients have reported being told to continue avoiding tap water for all uses, including drinking and brushing their teeth. They are being supplied with bottled water multiple times a day. A spokesperson for the Western Trust emphasized that any remaining measures are purely precautionary and for assessment with NI Water.
