Former Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, known as Alla Nani, died on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Visakhapatnam after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 56 years old.
Born on December 30, 1969, in Eluru, Nani began his political journey with the Congress party, winning the Eluru Assembly seat in 2004 and 2009. He later joined the YSR Congress Party in 2013.
He held the significant positions of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education from June 2019 to April 2022. During this tenure, he managed the health portfolio through the challenging COVID-19 pandemic.
Nani's political affiliations evolved over time. He lost the Eluru seat in 2024, resigned from the YSRCP on August 9, 2025, stating his departure from politics, and subsequently joined the Telugu Desam Party in February 2025.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep shock and sorrow over Nani's untimely death, calling it heartbreaking. Other political figures, including former Rajya Sabha member V. Vijayasai Reddy, also mourned his passing, remembering his dedicated public service.
