Summary
- Indo-French AI Centre for Health launched at AIIMS New Delhi.
- Focus on developing AI tools for brain-related disorders and mental health.
- Collaboration aims for enhanced diagnostics and precision treatment.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and French experts have launched the Indo-French Centre for AI in Health (IF-CAIH) at AIIMS New Delhi. This collaboration, inaugurated on February 18, 2026, is set to develop artificial intelligence-based diagnostic tools, with an initial focus on brain-related disorders.
The center, established through a Memorandum of Understanding between AIIMS-Delhi, Sorbonne University, and the Paris Brain Institute, will also engage academic partners like IIT-Delhi. Its goal is to create generative AI systems that will refine diagnostic accuracy and treatment precision over time. Initial research will concentrate on neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's, neuromodulation, and mental health.
This initiative builds upon previous collaborations in brain imaging and aims to integrate AIIMS's clinical expertise with French AI capabilities for early detection of complex diseases. The IF-CAIH will serve as a hub connecting the broader AIIMS network across India with French institutions. Future expansions are planned for oncology and further advancements in ophthalmology, along with developing innovative MRI systems for wider accessibility.
