Patel encouraged the graduates to wear their white coats with pride, recognizing the trust and responsibility they symbolize.
Patel highlighted the significant expansion of India's healthcare sector, noting the increase in AIIMS institutions from seven to 23. This growth aims to broaden access to quality medical education and services. She also underscored the government's commitment to making healthcare more affordable and accessible, citing the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana's reach.
Addressing the rise in non-communicable diseases, Patel stressed the importance of prevention and early screening alongside treatment. She mentioned the establishment of 1.84 lakh Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs for primary healthcare and India's population-based screening program for adults aged 30 and above. Digital health initiatives, such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, are also fostering a connected health ecosystem.
Furthermore, India has substantially boosted its medical education capacity, now boasting 820 medical colleges with nearly 1.29 lakh undergraduate seats and around 85,000 postgraduate seats. This expansion creates more avenues for aspiring healthcare professionals.
