18 Jan
Summary
- AI-powered glasses offer support for daily tasks and memory recall.
- The technology helps dementia sufferers maintain independence and safety.
- The app version is expected to launch by the end of 2026 for £50/month.

Animorph Co-operative has designed innovative AI-powered glasses, Cross Sense, to assist people living with dementia. These glasses function as a 'gentle anchor,' providing step-by-step guidance for everyday tasks and identifying people through a live display. They aim to enhance memory recall, particularly for names of relatives and caregivers, and offer emotional support via an AI companion named Wispy.
Early trials indicate a meaningful improvement for a significant majority of users. Rosalind Tranter, a retired dentist with dementia, shared that the device helps her maintain independence and avoid being a burden. This innovation, leveraging recent AI advancements and ultralight smart glasses, seeks to 'defy' the disease rather than merely mitigate its effects.
The technology is set to become available as an app by the end of 2026, with a monthly subscription of £50. The glasses themselves currently cost over £700. This project is one of five shortlisted for the prestigious Longitude Prize on Dementia, an initiative dedicated to funding technology that promotes independent living for those with the condition.
