26 Apr
Summary
- 4,257 polling stations equipped with water and shade.
- 3,401 medical kits distributed with essential heatwave medicines.
- Doctors, nurses, and mobile vans deployed for election day care.

Ahmedabad's district collector's office and the municipal health department have proactively established comprehensive measures to combat the rising heat during the upcoming municipal elections. A total of 4,257 polling stations across 48 wards will feature provisions for drinking water and shaded relief.
The health department has equipped these stations with 3,401 medical kits, containing essential medicines like ORS, anti-emetics, and antipyretics, along with sufficient dressing materials. Recognizing the heatwave warning, ORS will be readily available at every location.
To ensure the safety of voters and election staff, teams of doctors, nurses, and paramedical personnel have been deployed from April 25 to April 28 at dispatch, receiving, and counting centers. On election day, these medical professionals, along with mobile medical vans and health center teams, will be on duty across all zones from 7 am to 6 pm.
Coordination with EMRI-108 services ensures emergency medical response is available city-wide. All urban and community health centers are instructed to remain operational on election day, with affiliated AMC Medical College hospitals providing 24-hour service. Thirteen community health centers will also operate 24 hours, while 90 urban health centers will be open from 9 am to 6 pm.
