- Development will focus on elderly and chronic illness patient services.
- Original building facade and Victorian elements will be preserved.

The former Accrington Victoria Hospital site is undergoing a significant regeneration to become an integrated health and care hub. This new facility will specifically cater to the needs of elderly residents and individuals living with chronic illnesses, ensuring their healthcare needs are met in a dedicated environment.
The development plans encompass a new GP surgery, supported living accommodations for frail and elderly individuals, and specialized health services tailored for older patients and those with long-term conditions. A cafe and drop-in clinic spaces are also included in the design, fostering community engagement.
Originally closed in December 2024 due to safety concerns, the Haywood Road site's future has been carefully considered. Retail and private housing developments have been definitively excluded to align with community wishes. Efforts are underway to salvage and incorporate original Victorian elements, such as founder stones and plaques, into the new structures.
The strategic group overseeing this project includes representatives from East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Hyndburn Council, the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, and Calico Homes. This collaboration aims to create a positive and valuable asset for the local community, honoring the hospital's historical significance and public funding origins.
