84-Year-Old Swaps Gas Stove for Safer, More Efficient Induction Cooking

As of October 15th, 2025, a doctor in Western Sydney, Australia, has helped her 84-year-old mother make the switch from a gas stove to an induction cooktop. Dr. Kim Loo, who has nearly four decades of experience in the medical field, explains that the change has provided her mother with a renewed sense of peace and safety.

Loo was concerned about the potential hazards of her mother's gas stove, including the risk of gas leaks and kitchen fires. Induction stoves, which run on electricity, eliminate these dangers and are also 10% more energy-efficient than conventional electric stoves, leading to increased savings on energy bills.
