A "fit, happy and healthy" 12-year-old girl, Mia-Mai Grace Williams, tragically passed away after collapsing at her grandparents' home. The youngster was found in cardiac arrest, showing signs of vomiting.
Emergency life-saving treatment was administered immediately at the scene. She was initially taken to Prince Charles Hospital before being transferred to Noah's Ark Children's Hospital at the University Hospital of Wales.
Tragically, her condition worsened during her hospital stay. An inquest at Pontypridd Coroner's Court was informed that Mia-Mai had displayed no prior signs of illness. The probable cause of her death is believed to be an infection resulting in cardiac arrest.
