Yamuna Water Level Recedes in Delhi
14 Jul
Summary
- Yamuna water level in Delhi has started falling after three days of steady rise.
- The river is currently below the warning mark, with no flood forecast for Delhi.
- Froth observed near Kalindi Kunj is linked to untreated sewage and industrial effluents.

The Yamuna River's water level in Delhi started to recede on Monday, a change from the steady increase observed over the preceding three days. This rise was due to higher inflows from upstream states following heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
As of Monday evening, the water level near the Delhi Railway Bridge was recorded at 202.57 metres, significantly below the warning level of 204.50 metres. The Central Water Commission (CWC) has issued no flood forecast for Delhi, indicating the river is expected to remain well below the warning mark for the next seven days.
While flood concerns have eased, patches of thick froth were visible along the Yamuna near Kalindi Kunj on Monday. This phenomenon is commonly linked to the discharge of untreated sewage and industrial effluents into the river, a frequent occurrence post-monsoon.
