Forest officials in Baliguda apprehended three individuals on Sunday for their alleged involvement in the killing and trading of animal body parts. The arrests followed searches at the residence of Digambar Kanhar, 56, a suspected wildlife hunter. Seized items included four leopard claws, teeth, two antelope skulls with horns, and other wildlife organs, alongside a country-made gun, axes, and mobile phones.
Kanhar confessed to killing two leopards in a dense forest area recently. Investigations revealed that two traders, Amitabhachan Pradhan and Tophan Pradhan, aged 36 and 44 respectively, obtained these items from Kanhar. This information led forest officials to search Kanhar's home, uncovering the wildlife organs and firearms. The arrests are part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal wildlife trade.
