Varanasi Gears Up for Janmashtami Cleanliness Blitz

Varanasi is undergoing a significant civic enhancement drive in anticipation of the auspicious Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival. The Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) is meticulously planning to ensure the city remains clean and well-organized for the expected surge of devotees and religious events. This proactive approach includes intensive sanitation efforts, comprehensive lighting repairs, and essential road maintenance across the city.

Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal has personally overseen these preparations, issuing firm directives to concerned officials. The focus is on prioritizing cleanliness drives, streetlight repairs, and road patching to prevent any inconvenience to pilgrims. Nagpal emphasized that any negligence in sanitation during the festival period will face severe consequences, with strict action promised against responsible parties.

To manage the anticipated crowds, additional sanitation workers will be deployed at key locations such as major temples, procession routes, and other crowded areas. Regular garbage collection, thorough drain cleaning, and close monitoring of sensitive zones are also part of the plan. Furthermore, quick road repairs and the immediate fixing of non-functional streetlights are being undertaken to ensure smooth movement and visibility for devotees. Areas prone to waterlogging or garbage accumulation will be under special surveillance to preemptively address potential issues. Officials are conducting ground inspections to confirm that all arrangements are finalized before Janmashtami, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts for a successful and orderly celebration.
