Uttar Pradesh launched its state-wide Van Mahotsav with a focus on environmental conservation and securing the future of coming generations. Minister Arun Kumar initiated the drive by planting saplings in Bareilly and Badaun, emphasizing the importance of widespread tree planting and care.
During the event, approximately 2,000 participants were provided with grafted saplings of various species, including mango and tulsi. They also took a pledge to nurture and protect the newly planted trees, signifying a commitment to ecological balance.
Further events saw principal secretary V Hekali Zhimomi and principal chief conservator of forests Sunil Chaudhary planting saplings at designated gardens. A unique 'Mango Bhandara' was organized to promote indigenous mango varieties, with participants receiving native mango saplings as mementos.
Honors were bestowed upon voluntary organizations and individuals for their outstanding contributions to forest and environmental conservation. Notably, the state has set a goal to plant 35 crore saplings across all 75 districts on a single day in July, a date contingent upon the month's monsoon patterns.
