Summary
- Snowdonia National Park is the UK's most littered tourist attraction
- Blackpool's Pleasure Beach Resort is England's dirtiest site
- Alton Towers has the highest number of litter-related reviews

According to a recent analysis, litter has become a growing problem at some of the UK's most popular tourist attractions. The study, which examined TripAdvisor reviews, found that Snowdonia National Park is the country's most littered site, with 1.03% of reviews mentioning the issue.
Wales' largest national park, which attracts over 4 million visitors annually, has struggled to maintain cleanliness due to the sheer scale of the location. Blackpool's Pleasure Beach Resort, a historic theme park, came in second place as England's dirtiest attraction, with 0.69% of reviews citing litter.
Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain, rounded out the top three, with 0.66% of reviews mentioning rubbish. Despite only ranking fifth overall, Alton Towers received the highest number of litter-related comments, with 147 reviews highlighting the problem.
Experts warn that the prevalence of litter at these iconic sites is a concerning trend, as many hold significant historical and cultural importance. They emphasize the need for visitors to take responsibility for their waste, especially during busy tourism periods when staff may struggle to manage the influx effectively.
The research comes as one in four Brits have booked a staycation this year specifically to visit a UK historic or cultural site. Preserving the cleanliness of these attractions is crucial to ensure they remain well-maintained for years to come.
