Baroness Sheehan expressed shock at the scale of the dumping and disappointment with the government's response, stating that their current actions are clearly ineffective.
While the Environment Agency stated cleanup preparations were underway due to exceptional circumstances and overriding public imperative, they have disputed claims of inaccuracy regarding their engagement with the committee's inquiry. The agency maintains it responded comprehensively and will continue to work with the committee.
