Heatwave Threat: Trees Shedding Branches!

As the UK braces for its fourth heatwave, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-thirties, a country park has issued a critical warning to visitors. Normanby Hall Country Park in Lincolnshire is advising people not to sit or picnic under trees due to an increased risk of branches falling unexpectedly.

The trees are under severe stress from the prolonged lack of water, forcing them into a 'survival mode' where they shed branches to protect their main systems. This unusual shedding is a direct consequence of the extreme weather conditions affecting the region.

Heat health alerts have been upgraded to amber by the UK Health Security Agency for areas in southern England, which are predicted to reach heatwave criteria this week. Temperatures could hit 33C in the capital and surrounding areas, with other regions also experiencing highs around 30C.

This situation follows concerns raised about the "severe impact" of high summer temperatures on the environment. England has experienced its longest dry spell since the mid-1990s, with some areas receiving no rainfall in July, putting significant pressure on water supplies and the natural landscape.
