27 Jul
Summary
- Two tigers discovered deceased in Uttarakhand's Chhakata range.
- Deaths believed to be from severe injuries during an inter-tiger conflict.
- Poaching ruled out as all body parts of the tigers were intact.

Two tigers have been discovered deceased within the reserved forest area of the Chhakata range in Uttarakhand's Haldwani forest division. Patrolling staff located the carcasses in the Northern Khera beat on Sunday evening.
Forest officials, led by the Divisional Forest Officer Kundan Kumar, stated that the deaths are prima facie believed to be the result of severe injuries sustained during an intense inter-tiger conflict. This conclusion is supported by preliminary postmortem findings.
Postmortems were conducted following standard National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) procedures. The tigers were aged between three and five years. One had a punctured femoral artery, and the other a ruptured jugular vein, indicating a violent struggle. Importantly, all body parts were intact, leading officials to rule out poaching as a cause of death.
Forensic samples were collected from the site for further analysis. The final cause of death will be determined upon receipt of these forensic examination reports. The investigation by forest officials is actively continuing.
