- Radio collars will monitor the tigresses for safety and integration.

Tigress Tara was successfully released into the core forest of Chandrapur National Park within the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve on December 18, 2025. This translocation is part of the Tiger Augmentation and Range Expansion (TARA) program aimed at bolstering the tiger population in the region. Tara, previously housed in a soft-release enclosure, demonstrated strong natural behaviors and hunting skills, confirming her readiness for independent survival.
The release of Tara, following that of tigress Chanda on November 20, is expected to significantly contribute to the tiger population, which currently consists of only three male tigers. Officials hope this will lead to breeding and ultimately strengthen biodiversity within the reserve. The initiative also aims to boost sustainable wildlife tourism, creating new employment opportunities.
