15 Sep
Summary
- Tiger search enters 26th day in Gudalur forest division.
- Search operations extended to Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
- Forest Department uses drones and cages to track animal.

The extensive search for a tiger responsible for two fatalities in the Gudalur forest division has now stretched into its 26th day. Forest Department officials have broadened their efforts, extending the hunt into the neighboring Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) and its Kargudi and Singara forest ranges.
This expansion follows limited signs of the animal in the Gudalur division. Authorities believe the tiger may have returned to its known habitat within MTR. To facilitate capture, an additional cage has been placed along the border between the Gudalur and Mudumalai forest divisions.
Conservationists have acknowledged the Forest Department's diligent work in protecting local communities. Since the last reported death on August 21, there have been no further cattle predation incidents attributed to the tiger, nor any negative human encounters.
Safety measures include assigning field staff to villages, advising residents to avoid certain areas, and utilizing drone cameras for wildlife monitoring. School students are also being provided with escorted travel.
