The Thames Path National Trail is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a new interactive mural in Henley-on-Thames. Artist Vickie Amiralis created the artwork to highlight the abundant wildlife along the 185-mile route. The mural is designed to engage families, encouraging them to interact with the real world and identify species seen in the artwork, with a QR code offering further information.
Various events are planned to commemorate the trail's milestone. A walking relay organized by community groups will take place throughout June, celebrating the diverse communities connected by the path. This initiative aims to celebrate the nature and significance of the trail which spans seven counties from the Cotswolds to London.
However, a 2.7-mile diversion remains active at Marsh Lock footbridge in Henley-on-Thames, implemented in 2022 due to safety concerns. Repairs have been delayed primarily by cost, but efforts are underway to address the aging infrastructure and plan for the trail's future.
