The Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve officially reopened its core zone on October 1, concluding its three-month monsoon closure. The first morning safari was met with a memorable sighting of the tigress known as 'Collarwali' in the Teliya area, delighting wildlife tourists and setting a celebratory tone for the season. Safaris now operate through six gates, including Moharli and Kolara, with a capacity of 100 vehicles daily for morning and evening slots.
The reopening day, October 1, saw a significant footfall of 564 visitors, a mix of domestic and international wildlife enthusiasts. This surge anticipates another bustling tourism period for Tadoba. In the fiscal year 2025-26, the reserve recorded nearly 390,000 visitor entries, with the buffer zone attracting a larger share. The United States led international visitors, followed by the UK and other European nations.
Moharli emerged as the busiest safari gate for the previous fiscal year, with over 50,000 entries, underscoring its popularity. Tourists were welcomed with roses at the Moharli Gate inauguration. With the landscape now vibrant after the monsoon rains and water sources replenished, wildlife activity is expected to increase, making it an ideal time for safaris.
