Surrey Farm Transformed into Biodiversity Haven

A significant transformation is nearing completion at Burpham Court Farm, a 45.9-hectare site nestled along the River Wey in Surrey. The former farmland is being meticulously converted into a vital nature reserve, with project completion anticipated in early 2026. This initiative by Guildford Borough Council is poised to dramatically enhance local biodiversity.

The farm's regeneration is a key component of the ambitious Weyside Urban Village project, which also encompasses the development of 1,550 new homes. This dual approach ensures that urban growth is balanced with substantial environmental preservation efforts.

Council lead for economy and place, Tom Hunt, highlighted the scheme's dual benefits, emphasizing the creation of beautiful new green spaces. He stated the project's importance in safeguarding Guildford's natural heritage for the long term, ensuring its ecological richness endures for generations to come.
