Community groups across Surrey are invited to apply for a share of £125,000 to fund projects that will help combat the effects of climate change. The new Community Resilience Grant, established by Surrey County Council, will provide individual grants capped at £16,000.
The initiative is designed to support residents facing increased risks from extreme weather events such as heatwaves, flooding, and wildfires. Marisa Heath, cabinet member for environment & planning, highlighted the need for community spaces to withstand current conditions.
Surrey County Council will collaborate with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service to assist local groups in delivering these vital projects. Two application stages are planned, with deadlines set for September 16 and September 30.
