9 Sep
Summary
- A coyote named Wendy was euthanized due to infection and gunshot wounds.
- The coyote suffered from a destroyed jaw and infection for at least a year.
- Veterinarians determined euthanasia was the humane option for Wendy.

A coyote, affectionately named Wendy by local residents, has been euthanized after a prolonged period of suffering. Veterinarians from Wildlife Care of Southern California made the difficult decision after determining the animal could not recover from a severe infection and injuries sustained from two pellets lodged in its head.
Wildlife Care SoCal revealed that the coyote's jaw was destroyed by the infection and pellet wounds, indicating she had been previously shot. Surgery and treatment were deemed insufficient to repair the damage, and the coyote would have required a lifelong soft-food diet, precluding any return to a natural life.
Neighbors had been aware of Wendy's condition for at least a year, noting her resilience despite her pain. The rescue facility commended the community's efforts in caring for and capturing the coyote, acknowledging their compassion in allowing Wendy a peaceful passing.
