The Environment Agency led the initiative, which commenced in 2024 and involved the construction of new flood walls, embankments, and a crucial flood gate. This development has successfully protected up to 333 properties from the risks posed by heavy rainfall.
The completion of these flood defenses marks a milestone for the area, enhancing long-term security for residents and businesses. The project has also spurred considerable regeneration, with three housing developments valued at £15 million currently in progress, creating over 230 new homes. Further developments, including sites for more than 350 homes and a regional AI hub, are advancing through the planning stages.
