FalconCam Live: St. Paul Falcons Ready to Lay Eggs
14 Mar
Summary
- FalconCam livestreams peregrine falcons in St. Paul nest box.
- A 14-year-old female falcon is part of the nesting pair.
- Over 90 chicks have hatched from this nest box since 1987.

A livestream of a peregrine falcon nest box in downtown St. Paul is once again operational, courtesy of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This initiative, now in its 16th year, provides a high-resolution view of the falcons' nesting activities.
This season, a 14-year-old female falcon, originally from St. Cloud, is one of the two adult birds using the nest. They have prepared a shallow nesting area, and eggs could be laid soon. If eggs appear around the expected March 31st date, viewers can witness the rearing of chicks throughout the spring.
Peregrine falcons faced near extinction in North America during the 1970s. Their population recovery in Minnesota was aided by falconers, the Midwest Peregrine Society, and the state's Nongame Wildlife Program. Since 1987, this specific nest box has been used by several pairs, contributing to the hatching of 93 chicks.
