Spiritual Leaders Embark on 15th Annual Cauvery River Pilgrimage

On October 21st, 2025, religious leaders from across South India gathered in Kodagu to participate in the 15th annual Cauvery Jagruthi Theertha Yatra, a pilgrimage aimed at creating awareness about preserving the Cauvery River. The event was launched by the South India Akhila Bharata Sanyasi Sangha, with over 100 saints and seers undertaking the journey from Talacauvery to Poompuhar.

During the pilgrimage, the religious leaders carried holy Cauvery water in a chariot and performed various rituals to honor the river. They visited several regions along the Cauvery's banks, urging local communities to ensure the cleanliness and conservation of the river. The Cauvery Swachata Andolana movement, in collaboration with other organizations, has been hosting this event for the past 15 years to highlight the importance of protecting the Cauvery, a vital water source for the region.

As the pilgrimage concluded at Poompuhar, where the Cauvery joins the ocean, the saints reiterated their call for the governments to implement policies and initiatives to maintain the river's cleanliness and ecological balance. This annual event has become a significant platform for raising awareness and mobilizing support for the preservation of the Cauvery, a lifeline for the people of South India.
