New Food Caddies Arrive for South Staffs Residents
4 May
Summary
- New food caddies are arriving in South Staffordshire homes this week.
- The new recycling law requires separate food waste collection.
- Weekly food waste collection service is set to begin in June.

New food caddies are beginning to reach households across South Staffordshire as part of updated recycling legislation. These new rules, which came into effect earlier this year, mandate the separate collection of food waste.
South Staffordshire Council, among 79 English councils that did not meet the government's March 31 deadline, will commence its weekly food waste service in June. Residents will receive a small indoor caddy and a larger outdoor one starting this week, though they are advised not to use them until the June service launch.
The new service will enable the recycling of all food waste, including cooked and raw items such as fruit and vegetable scraps, leftovers, meat, fish, bones, and dairy products. The council will provide specific delivery dates to residents soon.
