A significant coastal protection scheme costing £1.4 million has been successfully completed at Seaton Hole, bolstering defenses for homes and public areas.
The initiative, led by South West Flood and Coastal, involved delivering 6,500 tonnes of rock by sea to reinforce the cliff-toe revetment and undertake repairs to the Check House sea wall. This crucial work addresses repeated landslides, reinforcing the cliff bases.
Funded by the Environment Agency, East Devon District Council, and Seaton Town Council, the project marks a major step in safeguarding Seaton's coastline. Council leader Paul Arnott stated that the completion of this work ensures homes, heritage, and the landscape are now better protected against erosion for decades.
