A remarkable journey of survival unfolded when a grey seal pup was discovered in Pembrokeshire, having traveled an astonishing 120km from Cornwall. The seal pup, found on rocks at St Brides Bay on December 11th, was dehydrated and significantly underweight, despite being fully weaned.
After being spotted in a critical condition, the seal was promptly removed from the beach. Initial emergency care involved administering electrolyte fluids and providing nourishment through tubes before he could be transported. This crucial first aid ensured his stability for the onward journey.
The pup was then taken to the RSPCA West Hatch Wildlife Centre in Taunton, Somerset. Here, he received the specialist care necessary for his recovery and was given the name Muse, marking the beginning of his rehabilitation.
