A young seal, identified as Doughnut, is currently in a precarious condition following a severe entanglement in fishing gear. The one-year-old seal sustained a serious neck injury from a heavy mass of ropes, nets, and hooks weighing approximately 4kg. This critical situation was identified by volunteers from Friends of Horsey Seals who had observed Doughnut trapped for several weeks. They successfully rescued her from the sea at Horsey on Sunday. Doughnut is now under emergency care at the RSPCA's East Winch wildlife centre in Norfolk, where her prognosis is described as 'touch and go'.
