- The project aims to restore heritage landscapes and reconnect people with nature.

A new 1,000-acre British safari experience, named Wild Rutland, is being planned for the Burley Estate in Rutland. The development proposes reintroducing native animals such as Eurasian brown bears, lynx, and wolves within designated holding pens. This conservation-led ecological tourism project aims to showcase British wildlife and restore heritage landscapes.
The attraction would feature boardwalks for visitors, viewing platforms, animal enclosures, and a 'Close Encounters' area for smaller species. Plans also include a visitor village with a shop, cafe, restaurant, and educational facilities, alongside self-catering guest lodges and office spaces.
Rutland County Council is currently reviewing the planning application, with a decision anticipated by late May. The Wild Rutland Partnership states the project seeks to reconnect people with nature and set a benchmark for sustainable land management in the UK.
