A Cambridgeshire-based charity has successfully completed a remarkable tree-planting initiative, establishing Rory's Wood at Grafham Water Reservoir. In just 18 days, volunteers planted a total of 18,154 trees, creating a significant new green space.
The project was spearheaded by Vhari Russell, who founded Creating Nature's Corridors to commemorate her late brother, Rory. The wood serves as a living legacy, fulfilling Rory's brother's desire to leave a lasting impact.
Over 794 volunteers dedicated their time to the effort, with the final 1,163 trees and bug hotels planted recently. This memorial space allows the community to plant trees or sponsor benches in remembrance of loved ones, fostering connection with nature.
