This felicitation celebrated their exceptional work in rescuing 13 one-horned rhinos stranded during the 2025 floods. The successful rehabilitation and release of all rescued rhinos back into Jaldapara National Park underscore the dedication of frontline staff and involved agencies.
The Professor Ratan Lal Brahmachary Memorial Award was presented by the Society for Heritage & Ecological Researches (SHER) during their 'Bagh Divas 2026' observance. This event convened conservationists, foresters, and civil society members to reinforce the collective commitment to protecting tigers and broader biodiversity. The Padma Shri P K Sen Memorial Felicitation also acknowledged grassroots conservation heroes.
Wildlife photographer Dhritiman Mukherjee shared his impactful visual storytelling at the event. SHER emphasized that safeguarding tigers is intrinsically linked to protecting forests, biodiversity, communities, and our shared future.
