A puffin, discovered in a weakened state on a Cornwall beach, has successfully transitioned to a new sanctuary environment. The bird, affectionately named Morris, was found at Hawkes Point near St Ives and is now a resident at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary located in Gweek.
Bird rehabilitation specialist Jon Matthews, who oversaw Morris's recovery, shared his appreciation for the experience. Matthews noted the unique circumstances behind the puffin's name. It was given after he stopped at Morrisons in Penzance to purchase food, where a fishmonger assisted with feeding the bird in the car park.
