Orphaned Otter Cubs Thrive After Rescue

Two otter cubs, Tinsel and Star, who were orphaned in December 2024, have been successfully released back into the wild. They spent 14 months undergoing rehabilitation at the UK Wild Otter Trust, a volunteer-run organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating otters.
The trust, which recently moved to a new permanent base in north Devon, cared for a total of 10 cubs. These cubs were nursed back to health and raised until they were independent and strong enough for reintroduction into their natural habitat.
Trust founder Dave Webb highlighted the critical importance of such rescues, noting that orphaned cubs often do not survive without their mothers. He expressed deep satisfaction in witnessing rescued cubs grow into independent animals, fulfilling the charity's core mission.
