The 2026 Rhino Charge, held in Samburu County, has achieved a record-breaking fundraising total of KES 365 million. This significant amount will bolster the conservation efforts of the Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust, focusing on the protection of Kenya's critical mountain ecosystems, often referred to as the nation's water towers.
Adil Khawaja, representing Car No. 44 (AK44) and backed by Safaricom, once again emerged as the top individual fundraiser, securing this title for the fourth consecutive year. His team's efforts alone brought in KSh 216 million, marking the highest sum ever raised by a single team at the event. Other notable fundraisers included Mark Glen and Peter Kinyua.
The 37th edition of the Rhino Charge saw 65 cars participating. Team Huzi (Car No. 33) clinched the overall victory in the super modified category, successfully defending their title for the second year. The event also saw the Rhino Ark present a cheque of KSh 9.1 million to the Ngilai community for local development projects.
Significant sponsorship from M-PESA Foundation and Safaricom PLC, totaling KSh 114 million, was instrumental in the event's success. M-PESA Foundation's contribution of KSh 94 million will support critical conservation initiatives, including the protection of Mount Elgon Forest and the restoration of the Mau Forest Complex across multiple counties.
