Discarded tyres are being ingeniously repurposed as vibrant plant pots along the Harmu River in Ranchi. This transformation is part of the 'Kabaad Se Jugaad' theme, a key component of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign. The initiative is actively underway from September 17 to October 17.
Organized by the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) under the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs, the project focuses on demonstrating practical waste reuse. The painted tyres now serve as planters, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the riverfront area and adding splashes of colour and greenery.
Beyond the riverbanks, RMC has also initiated beautification efforts at Zakir Hussain Park. Officials stress that discarded materials like old tyres can be creatively reused, diverting them from landfills. Scrap artist Shivam Singh advocates for viewing waste as a resource, urging community adoption of such practices.
