Rajasthan Storms: Dust, Hail Bring Temperature Drop

Rajasthan witnessed significant weather changes on Friday, with dust storms, hailstorms, and moderate showers impacting several parts of the state. These events were triggered by active western disturbances and an upper-air cyclonic circulation. The rainfall brought a notable drop in temperatures across many districts, offering relief from the heat.

Despite the widespread precipitation, the western region of Rajasthan continued to experience heatwave conditions. Jaisalmer recorded the highest maximum temperature at 44.2°C, followed closely by Phalodi and Fatehpur. In contrast, Jaipur experienced more pleasant weather, with maximum and minimum temperatures below normal for the season.

Several locations recorded substantial rainfall, with Jhunjhunu receiving the highest amount at 51 mm, and Sriganganagar following with 44.4 mm. These showers provided considerable relief, especially in northern and eastern Rajasthan. The India Meteorological Department forecasted continued rainfall activity for Saturday, with potential for thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in Jaipur and eastern Rajasthan, while western parts are expected to remain under severe heat conditions.
