ChasingHorse Urges Action on Arctic Refuge Oil Leases

At the seventh annual Hollywood Climate Summit, Quannah ChasingHorse, an Indigenous land protector, model, and filmmaker, delivered a powerful call to action. She focused on the urgent need to halt proposed oil and gas lease sales within Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

ChasingHorse received the Amplifier Award at the summit, using her platform to draw attention to the sacredness of the Arctic Refuge lands. She stressed that inaction impacts everyone, as collective futures are at stake, particularly for Indigenous communities. The summit convened various professionals to explore how storytelling can influence understanding of the climate crisis.

Further engaging with climate narratives, ChasingHorse participated in a session on Indigenous filmmakers. Her involvement included co-directing the documentary 'Beautiful Resistance,' which highlights Indigenous resilience and environmental justice. ChasingHorse urged attendees to move beyond awareness and take concrete steps to protect ancestral lands.
