In November 2025, the Earthshot Prize, a decade-long initiative launched by Prince William to find solutions to the world's pressing global challenges, will be holding its fifth annual awards ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is set to feature a star-studded lineup, with actor Matthew McConaughey narrating a special trailer that showcases the work of the 15 finalists competing for the $1.3 million prizes.
Joining Prince William on stage will be Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue and singer Shawn Mendes, as well as music icon Gilberto Gil, who will be performing a collaboration with Grammy nominee Anitta. The ceremony will be hosted by Brazilian broadcaster Luciano Huck, and Brazilian soccer star Cafu will also be part of the show.
The Earthshot Prize seeks to recognize groundbreaking ideas and innovations to heal the planet, awarding leaders, entrepreneurs, and businesses in five categories: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate. Each winner receives $1.3 million to help scale their ideas.
The upcoming event in Rio de Janeiro marks the halfway point of the Prince's decade-long initiative, as he and his team continue their search for solutions to the world's most pressing challenges before it is too late.
