Poachers Caught on Camera in Tiger Reserve!
11 Jun
Summary
- Camera traps captured four men with weapons.
- Suspects identified and legal proceedings initiated.
- Surveillance intensified across the tiger reserve.

During a routine tiger estimation exercise in Amrabad Tiger Reserve, camera traps recorded four individuals carrying a country-made gun, ammunition, and other suspected hunting gear. The images, captured on May 18 in the Allangattu forest area, prompted an inquiry that identified the suspects.
Forest officials have registered cases against the four individuals under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The reserve, a vital habitat for numerous species including tigers and leopards, faces significant threats from armed intrusions.
In response, surveillance has been enhanced with more camera traps and drone monitoring. Forest authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity to aid in wildlife protection efforts.
