The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has introduced tax discounts for buildings that implement eco-friendly practices. This initiative by the Taxation and Tax Collection Department aims to incentivize citizens to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.
Direct tax rebates will be offered to structures effectively managing waste, treating sewage, and adhering to the "Zero Waste" concept. The decision is anticipated to motivate housing societies and commercial properties to prioritize recycling wastewater and managing waste efficiently.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar stated that the discounts are intended to encourage measures like on-site composting and Zero Waste implementation, thereby reinforcing the city's waste management capabilities. Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi reiterated PCMC's commitment to a clean, green, and sustainable Pimpri Chinchwad, with these incentives supporting the vision of a "Green City."
Specific discounts include 5% for an operational on-site composting system, 8% for both composting and a sewage treatment plant (STP), 3% for an operational STP only, and 8% for Zero Waste implementation. The PCMC urges citizens to set up these systems to avail the benefits and contribute to environmental preservation.
