The National Capital Commission (NCC) has launched its second new swimming dock on the Ottawa River this summer. A dock near the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec, is now open for unsupervised swimming from dawn until dusk.
This new Gatineau dock joins another recently opened dock near the Ottawa Locks on the Ontario side. These additions follow the 2023 openings of docks at River House and Dow's Lake. The NCC has a strategic focus on enhancing activities along the Ottawa, Gatineau, and Rideau river shorelines, which have been underutilized in recent years.
