Osprey Chick Hatches at Ranworth Broad
1 Jun
Summary
- First osprey chick of the year hatched on May 26th.
- The pair returned for their second year at Ranworth Broad.
- Last year marked the first osprey births in 250 years.

A new osprey chick has successfully hatched at Norfolk Wildlife Trust's Ranworth Broad site, signalling another breeding season for the reintroduced birds.
The chick emerged on May 26th from one of three eggs laid by the breeding pair. This is the pair's second year at the Ranworth Broad location, near Wroxham.
Last year's breeding success was historically significant, marking the first osprey chicks born in the East of England for 250 years. This year's hatching is considered "fantastic" news by NWT reserves manager Adam Houlgate.
However, with typical gaps of 4-5 days between egg hatches, the outlook for the remaining two eggs is uncertain as the season progresses.
