- Six crude bait bombs seized, preventing further animal deaths.

In a significant anti-poaching operation, forest department officials in Angul, Odisha, apprehended four suspects on Tuesday night. The raid took place in the Biripal reserved forest under the Angul forest division, where six crude bait bombs, designed to explode when ingested, were seized. These devices were used to kill a male wild boar.
The operation was conducted during a night patrol by the Rengali forester's team in the Gandamala beat. The timely seizure of the bait bombs prevented further harm to wildlife. The arrested individuals have been identified and a motorcycle was also confiscated from them.
Divisional Forest Officer Nitish Kumar stated that the investigation is focused on tracing the origin of the explosives and understanding the methods used by the poachers. This incident follows a similar bait bomb tragedy in Banki two months prior, where a bull died from consuming such a device.
Officials have pledged to intensify patrolling and enforcement measures across forest areas to protect wildlife within the Angul division.
