Norwegian Firm Proposes Massive Wind Farm for North Yorkshire Moors

A Norwegian energy company has unveiled plans for a major new wind farm project in the North Yorkshire Moors. The proposed "Hope Moor" development would cover an area of over 1,130 hectares (2,792 acres) of open moorland to the south of Barnard Castle and north of Richmond.
According to Yvonne Peacock, a local councilor, the scale of the project means it will require approval from the national government, rather than just the local North Yorkshire Council. The developer, which already operates wind farms in the UK, says the layout and number of turbines will be determined through consultations with environmental agencies and local communities.
The company has promised to design the wind farm "sensitively" to respect the natural landscape and traditional land uses in the upland moors. If approved, the project would create jobs and investment in the local area. However, the plans are still in the early stages of development, and the public is being invited to learn more at upcoming information sessions.
