Noida Authority Acts: Road Resurfacing and Sprinklers Ahead
21 Oct
Summary
- Road resurfacing must be completed by October 31 to combat winter pollution.
- Noida will install rooftop sprinklers and public AQI displays.
- Waste collection fleet transitioning to 70% EVs and 30% CNG vehicles.
Noida authority has mandated that all road resurfacing projects must be completed by October 31, a crucial deadline to mitigate winter pollution. This initiative is part of strengthened dust-control measures preparing for the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Officials are also directed to implement rooftop sprinklers on buildings and ensure public display of air quality index (AQI) readings across the city.
Garbage collection and sanitation are receiving increased attention, especially in villages and public areas. Noida plans to deploy additional vehicles for waste collection in villages and transition its fleet to be 70% electric vehicles (EVs) and 30% compressed natural gas (CNG) powered. Regular inspections and special cleanliness drives are scheduled for markets and public spaces.
Furthermore, road infrastructure projects are under scrutiny to prevent traffic congestion. A plan is being developed to manage traffic flow at the terminal point of the elevated road construction from Chilla border to Mahamaya flyover. The proposed elevated road connecting Chilla to Yamuna Pushta has secured necessary approvals, with tenders anticipated within two weeks.
