A week-long plantation drive commenced on Saturday in Noida, focusing on establishing a green buffer along a drain near Sector 137. Organized by Lions Club Delhi Veg and supported by numerous volunteer groups, the campaign involves planting thousands of bamboo and jamun saplings, alongside hundreds of medicinal plants.
The primary goal is to create dense vegetation on both sides of the drain to absorb pollution and mitigate unpleasant odors. This effort aims to improve the environment for local residents and enhance biodiversity.
In addition to the planting, organizers are distributing medicinal plants to the community to encourage widespread participation in greening efforts. The campaign's final phase is scheduled for August 8, featuring a large-scale drive at Wetland Park in Sector 54 and further plant distribution in Sector 23.
